The lyric coloratura soprano Elena Tsallagova studied at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory where she won first prize at the Rachmaninov Singing Competition. In France, she continued her training with Ileana Cotrubaș and was accepted into the Paris Opéra's Atelier Lyrique opera studio. In 2008 she was heard at the Opéra in the title role in Das schlaue Füchslein.
Guest engagements have taken Elena Tsallagova to the most important opera houses in the world, including the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, the Berlin State Opera, the Opéra national du Rhin, the Teatro Real in Madrid, Opera Vlaanderen, Lyric Opera in Chicago, De Nationale Opera in Amsterdam and the Canadian Opera Company. She has also appeared at the Salzburg, Bregenz and Glyndebourne Festivals and at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro.
She has a longstanding collaboration with the Deutsche Oper Berlin, where she sang roles such as Micaëla (Carmen), Adina (L'elisir d'amore), Gilda (Rigoletto), Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), Corinna (Il viaggio a Reims),Mimi(Bohème) and Liù (Turandot). She has also appeared as Violetta (La traviata) at the Stuttgart State Opera and in a staged production of Mozart's adaptation of Handel's The Messiah at the Salzburg Mozart Week, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées and the Grand Théâtre de Genève.
More recently, she sang Fiorilla (Il turco in Italia) at Glyndebourne, in a Romeo Castellucci-directed production of Mozart's Requiem at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía in Valencia, and in Barrie Kosky's new production of Das schlaue Füchslein in Munich. She toured with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra in the same role.

In 2021, she was nominated for an Opus Classic Award for "Best Female Singer of the Year." Previously, there was a Grammy nomination for the role of the Infanta in Alexander von Zemlinsky's "The Dwarf" at the Deutsche Oper Berlin.

Engagements in the 2021/2022 season have taken Elena to three major summer festivals: At the Salzburg Festival she performs La Vierge in Honegger's "Jeanne d'Arc", at the Munich Opera Festival of the Bavarian State Opera she can be heard in the role of the Cunning Vixen, and at the BBC Proms in London with "Ein deutsches Requiem" by Johannes Brahms.

In 2022, she made her role debut at the Stuttgart State Opera as Alcina. Elena successfully kicked off the current 2022/2023 season as Princess Eudoxie in Jacques Fromental Halévy's "La Juive" at the Grand Theatre de Génève with conductor Mark Minkowski.
Future engagements will take her to Hamburg as Fiorilla (Il turco in Italia) and back to the Deutsche Oper Berlin as Gilda (Rigoletto) and Zdenka (Arabella).
