Tieni Burkhalter

Tieni Burkhalter, born in St. Gallen in 1981, lives in Zurich. He graduated in fine arts from the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) in 2008, with a focus on video and video installation. His works have been shown at exhibitions as well as at experi¬mental film festivals, including Videoex and the Biennale de l'image en mouvement. He has also worked as a freelancer for Swiss television and for various film agencies as a cameraman and set designer for feature films and television series. Since 2009 he has been working as a video producer for the stage: At the Zurich Opera House his work has so far been part of Der fliegende Holländer, Land des Lächelns (staging: Andreas Homoki), A-Life (choreography: Douglas Lee), Anna Karenina, Das Mädchen mit den Schwefelhölzern (choreography: Christian Spuck), Pelléas et Mélisande, The Makropulos Affair (staging: Dmitri Tcherniakov), Faust (choreography: Edward Clug), Coraline (staging: Nina Russi), The Csardas Princess (staging Jan Phillip Gloger), The Odyssey (staging: Rainer Holzapfel). For Dmitri Tcherniakov he also produced the video design for Senza Sangue/Duke Bluebeard's Castle at the Hamburg State Opera, La Fille de Neige and Les Troyens at the Opéra National de Paris and Tristan und Isolde at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin.
