Minyoung Kim

Minyoung Kim was born in Seoul, South Korea, in 1999. She completed her bachelor's degree at Yonsei University under Prof. Sung-Won Yang. Since April 2023, she has been studying for her master's degree at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music Berlin under Prof. Claudio Bohórquez.
As a young cellist, Minyoung broadened her musical horizons by participating in the Cello Academy Rutesheim, the Virtuoso & Belcanto Festival, the Festival Cello León, the Casalmaggiore International Music Festival, the Borromeo Music Festival, and the Spring Festival in New York, where she performed at Lincoln Center's Rosesaal, the Musikvereinssaal in Vienna, and the Konzerthaus Berlin. She received important artistic inspiration in masterclasses with Wen-Sinn Yang, Natalie Clein, Tamás Varga, Troels Svane, Jakob Spahn, László Fenyö, Laurence Lesser, Adrian Brendel, and the Quatuor Modigliani.
From March to December 2022, she was an academician with the Korean National Symphony Orchestra. From November 2023 to July 2024, she was an academician with the Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra. She has been a permanent member of the orchestra since the 2024/25 season.
